Poem, Inspiration, Talent.

Image
Some of the children at the environmental campus are fond of writing poems and they broadcast their inspiration on a local radio station every Sunday afternoon. Here is a piece of their talent, which incite people to save the forest and animals. photo: Antonio.R Arovy ny atiala sy ny biby Miarahaba antsika tsy vaky volo Na avy eto Maroantsetra na avy any ambanivolo Izaho tonga eto dia hiantsa tononkalo Hitantara zava-marina fa tsy angano Eto ambony tany anie ka dia fandalovana Koa ndeha ny atialan’tsika mba ho   arovana Lova napetraky ny razantsika ny atiala Hitsinjovana ny taranaka amam-para Ny atiala manome oranandro Mampifaly antsika toy ny masoandro Ahoana ny hevitrao amin’izay? Raha tsy miaro ianao dia hangahiahy Fantaro fa ny rano mamelona ny zavamaniry Manampy azy ireo mba hitsiry Tsy lazaina intsony ny laoko an-drano mamy velominy ihany koa ny biby ambonin-tany                  ...

TONTOLO IAINANA by Solofo ft the club from the Open Classroom

Image
At the environnmental campus, most of the kids love dancing and we had the idea to have more fun time with their favorite hobbies by shooting in front of the camera. ;-) While making the clip, mr.Solofo, an artist from the Antongil Bay joined us and offered his help to decorate the activity with the kids from the campus.  We once taught those kids how to make short clip and movies and wow, will you have a look at their pretty work? "Just play, Have fun, Enjoy the game": Michael Jordan.

Image
Playing is more than just fun for kids. It is essential for developement because it contributes to the cognitive, social and emotional well-being of children and also youth. At the education center, we give the opportunity for kids to relax and play with toys so that they learn how to work in groups, to share, to negotiate, to resolve conflicts,... A very big THANK YOU to Nicole Kraettli (journalist), Petra Lahann (recent Coordinator of the program), Andrea Neuhaeuser (member of the Friends of Masoala), Beer Visser (Volunteer), Mamy (Cepali) for donating pretty  toys that the children from the education center have never seen before. Photo: MM Photo: MM Photo: MM Of course, you don't have to spend lots of money to find toys, games,... but homemade toys are also great ideas to develop the kids skill. Do we need art in our lives?

Image
Photo: J.R Photo: J.R Photo: J.R Photo: J.R There’s no doubt that arts are fun for kids. Arts can even be said as the best ways to help kids develop their view. Looking at their fingers using the paint brushes and making a beautiful picture to hang on the wall is extremely impressive. Kids in Andapa, (Ampoanaomby) were overjoyed when our team came up to teach drawing. It was awesome to see their pretty talent. We invited those kids to express their knowledge about lemurs without forgetting to inform them how  important is to save these creatures. "Every child is born creative. The challenge is to keep that creativity alive". -Kristina Webb

How we connect across the world?

Image
Students from the Open Classroom always wondered how different is the vegetation, climate, ways of living,... between Madagascar and the US. Having the oportunity to exchange knowledge with some students from the Northport, Michigan USA,  they enriched their knowledge about the two countries. How we did it? We first made small movies for the US kids to show them how our daily life is, and then they sent their videos to us too. There came up so many questions between the two groups about, general life, environment, studies, ... The kids enjoyed their discovery very much and want to go on with further exchange. Happy to connect!!! :-) Photo: MM

Let's Plant! We Need To Go Green!

Image
Remember the nursery of rosewood we made at the education center? Oh yes, the time for growing them near their whole family, which is none but "nature" is finally arrived. Some of the kids from the center  went in Antsahabe and planted some of the plants. Of course, they learned a lot from their trip, found lots of animals, identified some trees and yet, they want to protect more. They say: "More trees, more water, and thanks to water, life goes okay"! Photo: Adrien.Z
